TextTone v1.05 Introduction - April 1999, Basil Hussain ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TextTone! TextTone assists you with creating HTML code for sections of text that have a graduated colour effect. Besides looking rather cool, this kind of effect in a web page can make for eye-catching text and great headlines. But just what is a graduated colour effect? Let's have an example - the word "TextTone", with a blue to red fade. The first couple of characters of the text would start out in blue, and the further across the word you get, the colour of each character would get nearer to red. Overall, the colouring of the word would go blue, purple, red. It's fairly difficult to get a mental image of this effect when just reading this text, so why not take a look at the file 'example.htm' in a web browser? The file is located in TextTone's installation folder. TextTone helps you with the creation process by utilising a step-by-step 'wizard' interface. This prompts you at each step of the process as to what you need to do. Just fill in the required information, and press the 'Next' button to go on to the next step. Once you've finished, all you need to do is select an output option for the HTML code and press 'Finish'! TextTone features the following methods of output for the generated HTML code: * Copy the code to the Windows Clipboard. * Create a template file for you to work on. Also, besides the colouring effect for the text, there are other options such as font, size and style that you can format your text with. To be able to install and use TextTone, you will need: * A system running Windows 95/98 or Windows NT 4. * 1Mb of free hard disk space. If you want to view the generated HTML code, you will also need a web browser. Please remember to regularly visit the TextTone web site, located at http://www.rivermill.demon.co.uk/texttone, where you will find answers to frequently asked questions, info on bugs that have been found (if any!), and news about updates to the program. Have fun and good luck! - Basil Hussain ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TextTone v1.05 copyright © 1998-99 by Basil Hussain. All rights reserved.
